AEPCO Completes 4 MWp Solar PV Project at J2 Mall car park in Kuwait
KUWAIT, KUWAIT, November 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- AEPCO has announced the completion of construction and installation works for a solar PV project at the car park of J2 Mall in Jaber Al-Ahmad City, Kuwait, with a total capacity of 4 MWp. The project integrates renewable power generation into the mall’s existing parking infrastructure.
AEPCO signed the project contract in March 2025, with construction commencing in January 2026.Construction and installation works were completed according to the planned project schedule.
The project is the first of its kind in Kuwait to be fully developed, financed and implemented by the developer, with no financial cost to the beneficiary.
Solar PV Integrated with Car Park Infrastructure
The project comprises approximately 5,300 solar panels and has been developed as an on-grid solar PV system integrated with a dedicated car park structure. The solution combines covered parking with solar electricity generation, enabling the site to serve both its operational purpose and an energy-generation function within the same footprint
Once operational, the project is expected to generate approximately 6,000 MWh of electricity annually. The renewable electricity generated by the system is expected to help reduce the mall’s reliance on conventional electricity sources while lowering emissions associated with its operations.
Environmental and Economic Value for Commercial Facilities
The project’s value extends beyond renewable electricity generation. By integrating solar panels into an existing car park, the development makes productive use of available infrastructure without requiring additional land dedicated solely to power generation, while the carport structure also provides shade for parked vehicles.
From an operational perspective, projects of this type can help commercial facilities meet part of their electricity demand through on-site solar generation, potentially reducing a portion of their electricity operating costs over the long term, while also lowering emissions associated with conventional electricity consumption. As this model is adopted more widely, commercial infrastructure can play a greater role in supporting the transition toward more efficient and sustainable urban energy systems.
AEPCO’s Role in Commercial Solar Solutions
The project reflects AEPCO’s approach to delivering solar energy solutions tailored to the requirements of commercial and industrial facilities, while making productive use of available infrastructure and space.
The achievement also reinforces AEPCO’s position as the first locally owned Kuwaiti company to establish a power purchase agreement (PPA) in the commercial and industrial (C&I) sector, further strengthening its standing as a leading company in Kuwait. AEPCO has extensive experience in developing, investing in and managing C&I solar projects.
The J2 Mall project demonstrates the potential of integrating solar PV systems with car parks to combine existing commercial infrastructure with renewable electricity generation. This model can provide an effective approach for commercial facilities with substantial parking areas seeking to make greater use of available space for clean energy generation.
As the leading and most experienced company in this field across the region, AEPCO sees this project as a model that could be extended to more major commercial and industrial facilities across Kuwait and the wider region, supporting broader adoption of the C&I offtake model.
